H.M. The King's Birthday (Rama IX)

December 5th was the birthday of the late His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej as well as the day being observed as country's Fathers Day.

The government on 7 February, 2017 announced that 5 December will remain a national holiday to commemorate the late king and to be observed as the nations father's day.

This day without a doubt the most difficult day of the the year to predict whether bar closures will be in effect or not. In recent years there has  been much fewer bar closures in tourist areas, with most in the Phuket region.
With recent changes in Thailand this day is unpredictable as far as bar closures are concerned.
